The upgraded archaeological site of the Palace of Nestor

The upgraded archaeological site of the Palace of Nestor in Ano Englianos in Messinia will be inaugurated on Sunday 12 June, 2016.

The Palace of Nestor, the best preserved Mycenaean palace of the mainland, decisively contributes to our knowledge of the architectural structures of the palaces of the Late Bronze Age (1680-1060 BC).
The richness of the findings and the fragments of frescoes revealed unparalleled Mycenaean art, highly skilled artists but also the cosmopolitan character of the Palace.

The Palace of Nestor is located on the hill of Ano Englianos, on the west side of the road joining Pylos with Chora. The hill dominates among ravines, an area full of olive groves and vineyards.

The upgraded archaeological site of the Palace of Nestor has new navigation infrastructure with new information and communication technology and provides convenient access to all audiences.
The new roof, made of structural steel covers the central palace in an area of 3,185 m², protecting it in the most appropriate manner.
